KiA Impact... the Nursing Home
We have 7 or 8 KiA impact groups that get together to bless the city in practical ways. One of those groups visits a nursing home every Friday evening. Upon arrival they split up into 2 groups. One group goes to help the elderly feed themselves. Many of them suffer from dementia and range in ability to feed themselves. The other group visits bedridden, lonely patients.
Two weeks ago was my first visit. Christoph came for the first time too. Christoph is one of the guys in our church who likes being involved in the good we are doing, comes to our events and is part of our community, even though he's not quite sure about Jesus and Christianity yet. I went with Kathrin to help feed dinner. Christoph went with Janika to visit some bedridden folks.
As they were going, an old lady walked by him and slapped him on the butt! She proceeded to ask if she could do it again! He declined and went on his way to visit those less mobile. :)
And, well, that's what we do...bring heaven to our city one spoonful or slap, eh-hmm, I mean visit at a time! :)
