The Obstacle & The Dream
Since I read it last week, I have returned over and over again to the following quote from John Maxwell (from his book Failing Forward):
Always measure an obstacle next to the size of the dreams you are pursuing.
To be completely honest, I don't even remember all the reasons why, but last week was an especially difficult week. We are in days right now in which we just have to "suck it up" a lot and push through, so there are a lot of long, hard, draining days but even now I'm encouraged.
Here's a piece of my response to the quote...
[That statement] almost couldn't be more timely. In relation to the dream we are pursuing - almost relentlessly - these obstacles-- though trying, tiering, exhausting, and even at times seemingly almost the death of me-- they are relatively small.
Our dream is to see God's dream come true. We want to bring the reality of heaven (where God reigns) to the reality of our lives and the world. Holes in hotel walls, wallpaper and dirt: challenges to overcome and a small price to pay for a dream so big.
